Observation:
A 2026 new release is "Epatage," a variety bred by Dmitry Nikolaevich Tkachenko. On test clusters during the year of grafting, it impressed with its very early ripening. It ripened earlier than any other varieties grafted in 2026. The estimated ripening period is 95–105 days.
This variety is highly productive, forming 2–3 flower clusters per shoot. The clusters are large and conical, measuring approximately 35–40 cm in length and weighing 700–1,300 g. The berries are ribbed and range in color from pale pink to red, weighing 14–16 g each. The flesh is crisp and offers a rich, harmonious flavor profile characteristic of the variety (a very complex taste that differs significantly from most other varieties).
Epatage has perfect flowers, and there is no issue with shot berries. Not a single berry cracked after heavy rain (27 mm). The berries hold firmly to the stalk and do not shatter during transport. The longer the clusters remain on the vine, the firmer the flesh becomes.
Epatage is notable for its very early ripening, high yield, attractive color, and excellent varietal flavor. Moreover, this variety lacks the flaws associated with Dubovsky Rozoviy—such as berry cracking, shoot overgrowth, a lack of fruit from the first buds, and relatively low resistance to powdery mildew in September.
