Observation:
A new 2026 variety bred by Alexander Ivanovich Chulkov, named "Athos's Sword" (*Shpaga Atosa*). In the year it was grafted, the variety demonstrated vigorous growth and high yield. Each shoot produced two flower clusters. Pollination was uniform, with no "shot berries" (poorly developed, undersized berries).
It ripens much earlier than its parent variety, the 'Avatar' seedless grape—approximately 115–120 days (I will be able to provide a more precise figure in 2027). The clusters are large and loose, weighing around 600 g on test vines (the breeder has produced clusters exceeding 1 kg). The berries are strikingly beautiful and elongated (finger-shaped), measuring 5 cm or more in length, with a weight of 14–16 g. The flavor is harmonious, featuring firm, crisp flesh and juice that is slightly pigmented near the skin.
The most interesting feature of this variety is that the berries are seedless. When cut open, "Athos's Sword" (Shpaga Atosa) demonstrated a very high level of seedlessness, reminiscent of the "Avatar" variety. A. I. Chulkov also confirmed the seedless nature of this cultivar.
Further testing of this variety is underway, but given its stunning appearance, earlier ripening, and high-quality seedlessness, I am confident that Athos's Sword will earn a place in our vineyards.
