Observation:
A new American seedless variety named Kelly Seedless. It is highly vigorous; own-rooted vines in the nursery also show excellent growth and wood maturation. Yields are high and consistent (vines set two clusters per shoot even with short pruning).
Kelly Seedless ripens between September 15 and 20. The vine matures very early—fully along its entire length—even before the berries ripen. The flowers are perfect (bisexual). The clusters of this seedless variety weigh between 700 and 1,200 g. The berries are round, yellow, and weigh 6–7 g; they feature a pleasant Muscat flavor and crisp flesh. To ensure a uniform yellow color across the entire cluster, I recommend thinning the foliage in early September, once the risk of sunburn has passed.
Kelly exhibits high resistance to fungal diseases. It is also notable for its excellent resistance to berry cracking following rain. It has a long shelf life and withstands transport well. Its frost resistance is -23°C.
