Observation:
New for 2026 – Kishmish Expert. Breeding number 101/15. Parental combination Dozen x k-sh Ratatouille.
Upon its first fruiting, the seedling demonstrated exceptional hardiness and productivity. Following spring frosts on May 4th, the seedless variety managed to produce 10 clusters (it sets flower clusters even on older wood). Flowering coincided with intense heat, yet pollination was unaffected. The flower is perfect (bisexual), and pollination is uniform, with no issues regarding "shot berries" (poor fruit set).
It is difficult to judge the ripening timeline under this year's conditions. Based on my observations, it will ripen 7–10 days earlier than 'Vodyanaya Liliya'. Preliminary estimates place it at 115 days from the start of the growing season.
The vine ripens early and along its entire length. It is highly vigorous. Each shoot from a replacement bud produced two flower clusters. The clusters weigh 600–1,000 g. The berries are bright red, quite large, and weigh 7–9 g.
The flesh of the Ekspert seedless variety is meaty and crisp. Its flavor profile is rich, inherited from the Ratatouille seedless variety, with distinct notes of caramel and fruit. The taste is not as sharp as that of the parent variety; instead, it is more delicate, with fruity and toffee-like nuances.
Not a single berry cracked after two rainfalls; the variety shows excellent resistance to precipitation. The berries contain a few soft seed rudiments (we will determine the precise seedlessness class next year under optimal flowering conditions). I plan to propagate and test this variety on various rootstocks in 2027.
This large, bright red berry is sure to appeal to many enthusiasts of unique flavors. Its early ripening and high yield pave the way for "Expert" to succeed in vineyards across Ukraine and beyond.
