Observation:
A blazing new release—seedling 101/11. Parent pair: Duzhina × Ratatouille.
During its first fruiting in 2025, the variety distinguished itself with a very early ripening period (maturing at the same time as the Livia variety bred by Zagorulko). The berries feature an unusual diamond shape, very firm flesh, and striking, beautiful coloration.
In 2026, it confirmed its characteristics and underwent additional testing. The growing season lasts 110–115 days. It exhibits vigorous growth. We leave two flower clusters on each 'Ogonёk' shoot. The flowers are bisexual.
The clusters weigh 700–1,000 g. The berries are rhomboid, raspberry-red, and weigh 12 g. The flavor profile is extraordinary—inherited from the Ratatouille variety—featuring notes of caramel, toffee, and tropical fruit. The flesh is very crisp, reminiscent of the Basanti hybrid variety.
It has excellent transportability. 'Ogonyok' has successfully passed rigorous checks for rain-induced cracking. The seedling is capable of producing a substantial yield from replacement buds following spring frosts.
The variety can remain hanging on the bushes for a long time. It exhibits high resistance to fungal diseases (at the 101/11 breeding plot, the foliage remained clean until November, whereas other seedlings were susceptible to oidium as early as September). Its frost resistance is currently being evaluated, but it is at least -24°C.
A very interesting variety that is visually appealing, matures within a standard market timeframe, and boasts a rich flavor profile. In addition, this seedling is easy to care for and highly productive.
