Observation:
A standout discovery of 2026 is the hybrid form 'Svetlyachok'. It is a three-year-old seedling bearing fruit for the first time. The parentage is 'Ladushka' × 'Halloween' (seedless). It demonstrated an ultra-early ripening period (on par with 'Tsimus' and 'Zorenka').
The seedling managed to produce six clusters from replacement buds (there were many late spring frosts in April and May this season, leaving many vines completely devoid of fruit). Its vigor is high—clearly surpassing that of Halloween.
The berry weighs approximately 10 g and is straw-yellow in color. The flesh has a crisp texture. The flavor features good sugar content and a Muscat note inherited from 'Ladushka'. The flower is perfect (bisexual).
This is the first time I’m seeing a crop on this seedling; I need time to evaluate its frost hardiness and disease resistance.
I anticipate that with the development of large clusters and consistently high yields, the ripening period will shift from ultra-early to very early (around 105 days).
Firefly has an attractive appearance and a marketable ripening period. It also offers a pleasant Muscat flavor and high bud fertility. I plan to graft it onto various rootstocks in the spring of 2027 for research purposes. This variety promises to be very interesting.
